District Varsity Tennis

Last week Atlanta competed in District Varsity Tennis.  6 teams and over 50 players competed for a chance to go to regionals by being one of the top 2 players in their event.  This consists of boys and girls singles, boys and girls doubles, and mixed doubles.  After two long days, Atlanta brought home the District trophy for boys, and after tying with Redwater, we brought home 2nd place district for girls as Redwater just edged us out in games won. In boys singles, Sam Jones took first place and qualified for Regionals, with Will Porterfield placing 4th.  Gabby Rigdon placed second in Girls singles and qualified for Regionals.  Landon Moore and Jackson Dillanger, having to play every match since they were not seeded, took 1st in Boys Doubles and qualified for Regionals.  Finally, in mixed doubles, Jake Carter and Jairy Medina placed 2nd qualifying for Regionals.  Alex Jones and Yarithza Sanchez placed 3rd and are 1st alternate to Regionals.  Congratulations to these top notch student athletes.  Good luck at Regionals in April!
