AHS students Win Voice of Democracy Competition

Voice of Democracy

Students from Atlanta High School won the local Voice of Democracy competition hosted by VFW Post 5870. The topic this year was "Why My Vote Matters". Winners include senior Chaselyne Haskins, senior Abby Allen, sophomore Colin Morris, and senior Andrew Barrer. They are pictured with VFW Post representative Bill Brockett. The winners have advanced to the district competition held in Longview.


Voice of Democracy is an annual nationwide scholarship program sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. It is an audio-essay contest for high school students in grades 9-12. The program annually provides more than $2.3 million in scholarships.
