Powerlifting - Maud Last Chance Qualifier

Posted Date: 02/23/2018

Strength of Atlanta seized one more opportunity to field an entire team in the Regional meet by entering eight lifters into the Maud Last Chance Qualifier on February 22nd in Maud, Tx. The final standings will not be posted until midnight February 24th, but, at the conclusion of competition on the 22nd, ten strongmen from Atlanta held qualifying positions for the Regional meet in Malakoff on March 2nd. Six members of Strength of Atlanta earned or solidified those honors at the LCQ in Maud.

Cody Maxie recorded personal bests on all three disciplines on his way to a 740 pound total and a second place finish in his weight class. Francisco Martinez squatted 530 lbs, totalled 1265 pounds, finished 4th in the 275 lb weight class, and thrust himself into position lifting in the regional meet next week. Cade Fant lifted up into the 242 pound weight class with stellar results. His total of 1180 pounds moved him into place to lift in Malakoff, as well. Tyrell King bested all of his previous lifts and finished 5th in Maud. King’s total of 1280 has him in 5th place in the entire region, also. Jordan Alvarez had an outstanding night totalling 1170 pounds, a personal best for him. Jordan Stiger was able to squat 410 pounds establishing a new personal best. Freshman Trey Adams totalled an amazing 1225 pounds moving him into a regional standing to participate in next week’s competition. And, what was perhaps the performance of the night, Dustin Williams squatted 525 lbs, bench pressed 410 lbs and deadlifted 500 to finish with a total of 1435 pounds. All three disciplines were personal bests for Dustin and the effort has set the stage for Williams to take on all comers at the regional meet.

As of February 23rd, ten young men representing Strength of Atlanta are slated to compete in Malakoff on March 2nd in a bid to secure a regional title. Strength of Atlanta is garnering much attention in recent months across the region and state for the incredible gains and the strength numbers posted this season. And, by the way, the Rabbits can run pretty well, too.
