Art Club Creates Big Art Day/Earth Day Sculpture

Posted Date: 04/28/2022

The AHS Art Club, with the help of the AHS Student Body & custodians, created the following sculpture for the Big Art Day held on March 3rd across the state of Texas and in conjunction with Earth Day, April 22nd. The sculpture was installed behind the main trophy cabinet at Atlanta High School on April 27th.

The large sculpture is made up of recycled water bottles, old card catalog index cards which feature nature inspired artwork, and Easter grass suspended with the help of plexiglass.

The sculpture is entitled, "450" because it takes approximately 450 years for the average water bottle to decompose. The AHS Art Club would like to invite you to reduce, reuse, and recycle to make the world a better place for future generations.
