The Atlanta High School UIL Academic Accounting Team had a successful year.  On May 5, 2018, in Austin, Tx they earned the title of the Texas 4A State Champion Accounting Team. Individually tying for first place, junior Jake Thompson and sophomore Cameron Carney; third place, senior Zee Barfoot; 7th place junior Cade Rosser; and alternate Jacob Nash.

The Accounting Contest is an hour-long contest consisting of 80 questions that focus on the elementary principles and practices of accounting for sole proprietorships, partnerships and corporations, and may include bookkeeping terminology, the worksheet with adjustments, income statement, balance sheet, trial balance, account classification, journalizing, posting, bank reconciliation, payroll and other items related to the basic accounting cycle.

“I am very proud of their accomplishments individually and as a team,” said coach Renee Rosser.  “They learned the fundamentals in class and applied them.  They put in many after school hours studying, taking practice tests, and learning test methods to prepare for the UIL Meets.  I could not ask for a better, more devoted team.”
