Driver Education

AHS Driver Education

  • Next Class: January 22, 2018 – February 21, 2018
  • Enrollment: Opens December 4, 2017 until January 19, 2018 (seats permitting)
  • Cost: $225 for students enrolled in Atlanta classes, $325 for all other districts
  • Cost Covers: Classroom Instruction (32 hours) and Driving Instruction (14 hours)
  • Class is 4-6 PM, MON-THU most weeks until 32-hr requirement is met; *2 make-up days at end of schedule
  • Students can be as young as 14 for the class, but must be at least 15 to test for Learners Permit
  • Tuition must be 100% paid before student will be enrolled in the class

Students must operate with their Learners Permit for six (6) months before getting their license, even if the student turns 16 during that period.

What to take with you when you go for your…

Learners Permit

  1. Birth Certificate (original, not a copy) or US Passport
  2. Social Security Card
  3. Verification of Enrollment (VOE) from student’s school (valid for 30 days)
  4. Certificate of Completion (DE-964/bottom half-sheet)
  5. Application for Texas Driver’s License (DL-14A)
  6. TxDPS Supplemental Examination Form (DL-40)
  7. Texas Residency Affidavit (DL-5)
  8. Fee of $16
  9. At least 2 forms of residency proof listed on DL-5

Drivers License

  1. Certificate of Completion (DE-964/top half-sheet)
  2. Verification of Enrollment (VOE) from student’s school (valid for 30 days)
  3. ITTD Completion Certificate (https://impacttexasteendrivers.dps.texas.gov)
  4. Fee of $25

NOTICE:  Replacement documentation for Classroom or Behind-the-Wheel driver education (Form DE-964) costs $10 per replacement with at least 24 hours advance notice.
